TechnoServe values individual privacy and wants to give our website visitors the opportunity to know what information we collect about them and how they can limit the use of personally-identifiable information beyond the purposes for which they first provided it. Personally Identifiable Information
We collect your email address if you communicate with us by email, as well as other information that you might supply voluntarily, such as survey information.
If you make a donation on our website, we will also ask for your credit card number or other account number you wish to be charged, as well as your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. We do not give out your credit card or other account information to third parties unless you authorize us to do so or if it is necessary to process your donation and to verify payment data. By making a donation and/or purchase, you consent to us providing your financial information to our service providers and other third parties as we determine necessary to process the transaction, such as Internet payment processing services and/or credit card processing services.
How we use your Personal Information
TechnoServe may use your personal information to do the following:
- Send you e-newsletters via e-mail
- Contact you about our events via e-mail
- Gain your input through surveys via e-mail
- Create additional communications and activities that further TechnoServe’s mission via e-mail
TechnoServe does not rent, sell, share, exchange or give any donor personal information originally received through our website.
In order to increase our base of support and keep our costs low, TechnoServe sometimes exchanges a segment of our mailing list, including donor information collected offline, with other carefully selected organizations. At least once a year, we will inform all offline donors who are eligible to be included on the exchange list, and give them an opportunity to opt out of future exchanges. You can opt out of this exchange at any time by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 1-800-99-WORKS and providing your complete name and address.
TechnoServe does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If TechnoServe finds out that it has personal information about a child under age 13, TechnoServe will take prompt and reasonable steps to delete it.
Cookies & Computer-Related Information
TechnoServe does not, as a general matter, collect personal information, such as the names or mailing addresses of visitors to our website, unless that information is voluntarily provided. However, our web server automatically collects information from your computer and navigation patterns when you visit our site, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the computer’s operating system, the type of browser you use, and the specific web pages visited during your connection. We may also track data such as the total number of visits to our website and the number of visitors to each page of our website.
We may use this information, in aggregate form, for system maintenance and to better understand how our visitors use our site and services so that we can make them better. TechnoServe’s website may include links to other websites operated by third parties. Those websites may have their own privacy policies or no policy at all. Data Integrity and Security
TechnoServe has a layered security in our systems. All online transactions are encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) before transmission. On secure pages, the website address in the address bar at the top of the browser screen starts with an "https" instead of an "http". All databases containing personal information are securely stored and only accessed by authorized personnel. Please be aware that despite our best efforts, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security.
